The school is dedicated to meeting the vocational, behavioural, and educational
needs of each student, with the mission to adjust and implement functional
curricula necessary to meet the individual needs of their students. The aim is
to ensure vulnerable young people are accessing full time education by focusing
on their emotional development.
Students at the school currently range from ages 5-18 and classrooms contain 5
– 8 students with student to staff ratios varying from 2:1 to 1:1. Students are
provided a balance of educational and vocational instruction while learning
communication strategies, integrating speech and occupational therapy methods,
participating in Affective Education, and engaging in community immersion through
volunteer activities, service-learning projects, and community outings. This
school provides a balanced curriculum to ensure that all students receive a
high quality and appropriate education and move seamlessly to the next stage of
their education and or career pathway such as key stage, college, or
apprenticeship.
The successful Teaching Assistant should have previous experience working with
SEN students and be able to adapt to their individual needs. The Teaching
Assistant position will be on a permanent contract directly with the school and
the position will be full time from Monday to Friday during school term time
only.
